This was so funny that I nearly had an "accident". I think I found a new addiction.
Two of my latest addictions..
Although a bit less obsessed with Lost than in previous seasons, last Wednesday's episode A Clockwork Orange scene creeped me out and reeled me back in. And that was when I saw it playing forward.
Then I go over to Best Week Ever and see-- dear god, why?-- some evil geniuses at PopCandy thought to play the whole scene backwards. This is where things get really weird and creepy and totally cool. See for yourself..
How do I love Lost? Let me count the ways..
I'm currently drugged up to high heaven. Luckily, I've been off work for a few days, so this is ok. Also, these were prescribed; doubly ok. Remember how I said my back was really super bad? Well, it got even worse. So bad that I couldn't raise my hands over my head and couldn't bend over. I guess it was a good thing that I had a doctor's appointment that day or I would've really been in trouble.. (More)
That wiley female stalker has now realized she can trap me by asking me prices on jewelry. But she can't force me to stick around after I've given the price. Unfortunately, I'm locked in, so I can only go in an oval or a figure eight. That's why I call it the hamster wheel.
Hopefully, I'll be transferred-- fingers crossed, but not counting on anything until I get it-- and won't be so easily trapped in the future. I won't find out about the department transfer for a few more weeks. Send good job vibes my way. I'm hoping for a raise with the transfer.
(More)I've been such a naughty girl not posting here in ages. I did have some opportunity, but I selfishly decided to use my free time to relax. Well, not so much relaxing, really. That's just been the past few days. Before that it's been all running around here and there. Doing this, doing that, getting a new cell phone, being stalked some more, being a wunderkind at work without any effort whatsoever, going on a Girl's Night Out, and so on... (More)
I can't get this out of my head!
I've been yodeling all day. That's been getting me some odd looks at work.
I've been trying to keep up with work, yearly doctor appointments, getting the kids ready for school, and still leaving some time for me to curl into a fetal position in the back of my closet to sob quietly about the cesspool that is my life. It's hard. Not the sobbing, that comes naturally.
I've found out that I'm not the only person at working looking for a new job. Quite a few others are as well. Some have succeeded. I am happy for them, but I also feel the tug of self pity. I want a nifty job that pays more! I'll settle for a job that pays more.

Another list-- you hate me, I know-- because I have no time. Ever.
Things I've Been Doing:
Life has been crazy lately. Let me amend that. Work has been crazy lately. And money has been on my mind a lot.
First off, remember how I said people were leaving left and right? And the only other night part-time person in my section had left? Well, we just got a new hire. And guess who's training her? Yep, that'd be me. I'm hoping this means that I'm damn good and proven myself because they have her on my schedule and not on any of the nights that the full-time ladies are working.
(More)So, like Kate, I was rather taken with the magazine bowl project featured on crafster.org and just had to try it. But I can never keep a simple project simple. No, I must twist it and distort it until it makes my life a living hell. Only then am I truly happy.. (More)
I know it sounds somewhat dirty, but it's really quite innocent. And, if you're J, vomit-inducing.
The herbal remedy for migraines I mentioned? Yeah, I've tried it. It seems to be helping, too. It's not a cure-all. But I didn't expect it to be either. Before I get into all of that, let's recap, shall we?
I have a buddy at work who's into kinesiology and herbal remedies and oils. I mentioned my migraines and how I was afraid to increase my Imitrex dosage because it would double my current dose. She checked out my energy level with some nifty weird tests and saw that it was good and told me to use...peppermint oil.

I saw this on Michelle's blog and thought it was nifty neat.

My Word Cloud
What can I say? It fits me well.
I think this may be my new favorite blog. It's brilliant and insightful.
I unabashedly used this recipe from epicurious.com and made a few minor tweaks. I didn't top with sour cream and I mixed the ginger snap cookies with graham crackers and chopped them roughly (for added texture). I also baked it in a bain marie (water bath) to insure there would be no cracking. (Cracking occurs when the proteins bind too tightly from high heat, the water ensures slow and even heating.)
Now, I'm not sure of the availability of the ingredients outside of the states, so you may have to experiment with others (creme fraiche for sour cream, mascarpone cheese instead of cream cheese, etc.). I also don't know how to convert into metric. Good luck with that as you're on your own there.
Enjoy!
A new addiction and way to waste time...
I need help! Here's the situation:
The kids love DDR-- that's Dance Dance Revolution for those of you not in the know-- and I want to get them the whole schlemiel. I got them a wannabe dance game before and they love it and play it all of the time, so I thought I'd just go for it and get them a console, pad and game set up for Christmas. Now my questions are these..
Any help would be appreciated!
Ye gods, so much to tell, so little time..
That salon job? Going well. It's only a few days a week and I get half of what I do. It hasn't been horribly busy, but I'm still averaging more than $10 an hour doing that. It's a pleasant change to actually have money in my wallet.
My friend? Dear A (my Albanian friend) from that very salon? Walked out the day after I started. And never told me. I had to find out from the boss. Oh, yeah. That wasn't weird at all. I guilted A a bit for putting me in such an awkward position and verbally slapped her upside the head for quitting over a blow out gone awry. I'm hoping she comes back. We make a good team.

Too busy playing this to even think up a post.
And when I'm not playing that, I'm reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I'm nearly half way through it and horribly curious about what will come next.
Guess what I'll be doing the rest of tonight and tomorrow?
But I have a really good excuse!
Sort of..
I was working. A lot. And when I wasn't working, I was running errands. Lots of errands. And then there were appointments. Luckily, there aren't so many errands and appointments anymore. And I had the day off work today.
I actually got to take a nap! But that was because I felt all icky from the sinus infection I'm trying to lose.
Since I can't end things on that depressing note, here are two things I've been playing lately: Star Chemistry and Email Roulette.
It's Edana's fault that I got hooked on the game. Then I got J hooked on the game. Then we got all competitive. And I totally skooled him. (Oh, yeah, that's right. I. Skooled. You. Ha!) So, it was only natural to do a print screen when he didn't believe my high score... (More)
I bought the Lost Season 1 DVD today! Yay!
I also found out that I have two cavities! Ya-- aww, shit..
I bought the DVD to make myself feel better about the cavities. Retail therapy is the best kind of therapy. These would be my first two cavities ever. Ever. My streak? It is broken. I'm going to wallow in some Dr. Jack. Mmmrrrrrrrrrr..
Otherwise known as my current addiction.
I spotted it on the pamie.com forums and had to give it a try. Now I can't stop. And I thought I hated politics! I'm also trying to get everyone else as addicted to this game as I am. That way I don't seem nearly as weird when I'm wondering whether voting should be compulsory or not. Or if I should allow my citizens to eat our national animal.
I'm sure I've mentioned this before: I have an addiction to stationery.
This addiction is so strong that I sat down and made my own little notepads today. This is how I spend my day off and the kids' first day of school. I need help.

I said it would be done. I'm going to list my current firefox theme and extensions and my current Konfabulator widgets. Aren't you excited? At least pretend to be.
My current firefox theme is: Noia 2.0 (eXtreme)- I like this because it's colorful without being overdone. It's nice and simple and cute.
Well, I tried Opera yesterday and found it wanting. I was sad. I needed something new to play with. So I prettified firefox with a new theme. But even that wasn't enough. I needed more "Oooh, shiny!" moments.
So I downloaded the Konfabulator and a few widgets to play around with. It's all free now and satisfies my inner hyperactive child. I even have a sun and moon zipping around Kristin Hersh's head.
Playing this game.
It's internet crack.
Just for fun, I thought I'd show the mangled paper craft animals I made the other night. I'll also show how they're supposed to look.
First one I did was the cute little stoat.

I realized it today when I was in the bathroom and I spotted the Neosporin (anti-bacterial ointment) and bandaids out, that my family is filled with nutty addicts. We can't even get addicted to drugs like normal people do. That's for amateurs.

I decided to steal Edana's variation on a popular meme ciruclating the blogosphere. Kill me now, I just said "blogosphere".
You're supposed to only name six of your favorite songs at the moment, but I can't ever name just six. No, no.. It's not possible. I must list until I can list no more. This list might rival a Stephen King novel and not just for being weird and scary...
